I’ve seen firsthand the degree to which risk assessment questionnaires increase the safety of victims. There are countless women at very high risk to be murdered by their partners; yet, many never realize it without the aid of risk assessment materials and personnel. Risk assessment is more than red tape!
Learn more about the DASH risk checklist here. You can also access Danger Assessment, an online tool which can assist in determining whether or not you are at risk of being severely harmed or killed by an intimate partner. The assessment is free and is available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Canadian French (you may contact Danger Assessment directly to receive it in another language). There is also a separate assessment for females in same-sex relationships. You will have to create an account in order to calculate your risk.
Refuge provides a list of questions which can help you determine whether or not you are in a danger, abusive situation.
You can also contact your health care provider or a local domestic violence/sexual assault center to discuss your situation.
