About the White Rainbow Project:

The White Rainbow Project (WRP) is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to helping the widows of Vrindavan, India aka “The City of Widows”. The WRP was inspired by the film “White Rainbow” which chronicles the struggle to change centuries of injustice and cruelty towards widows in India. The film has a message of hope and the depicts the establishment of a shelter in Vrindavan. With the film’s release there has been a raising of awareness, an awakening of interest, and rally of support for this hidden and often suppressed issue.

The White Rainbow Project is partnering with local Indian non-profit organizations to help destitute widows in Vrindavan, Varanasi and Chennai. We lead WRP service volunteers several times a year to not only provide physical care for these women but emotional support as well as we demonstrate love in many tangible ways. We hope that the trips will be meaningful and life changing for the participants as well as for the women for whom we care.

In order to fund these efforts the WRP is seeking contributions from individual donors, foundations and other non-profits. The funds raised help sponsor widows on an ongoing basis to provide food, housing, vocational training and medical care. These sponsorship opportunities allow for further outreach, as the sponsors themselves are encouraged to communicate with these women who have been shunned and outcast by their society.
