This year, Dressember has taken on new meaning by aligning with International Justice Mission, a human rights organization that works to end human trafficking, sexual slavery, and other forms of violent oppression that exist in our world. Over 30 million men, women, and children are trapped in slavery today. Through a fun and quirky style challenge, Dressember participants will rally awareness and raise vital funds to contribute to the global effort to put an end to modern-day slavery.
If you wish to join in the effort to stop it– providing rescue for victims without a defender— you can do so is by becoming either a dress-wearing participant or a sponsor this Dressember. Visit dressember.net to read more about the history of Dressember, to see the simple guidelines for participating, to find templates for spreading the news to potential sponsors, or make a tax-deductible donation. Any amount helps, and 100% of donated funds will go directly to International Justice Mission.
The rules are simple: 31 days of dresses, repeats allowed. Consider it a wardrobe challenge, a challenge that can make a big difference in the lives of people affected by the modern slave trade.
Simply join the Dressember for IJM campaign by choosing “Create Account to Join” under the green “Donate” button. Your geographical location does not matter – anyone can participate! It’s quick and easy to create an account and you can then direct people to click on “Participants”, scroll down until they see your picture and/or name, and donate to help you reach your person goal. The overall goal is $25,000 by the end of December. You can also create your own sub-campaign page for family and friends to donate.
For those of us facing snow this December, here’s to chilly knees in the name of abolition!
